I read a quote that Gary Kavanagh posted on his Twitter account that really hit home.
(p2) "...because we accept that it is like an act of god somehow, a car accident" - Peter Weir, director of 'The Cars That Ate Paris'
Yes, I said over and over in my head.
We act as if car crashes are an act of God in the sense that we have no control over them. We just accept them.
Why do I believe this? Because think of how little media attention is given to car crashes. Very little. We talk about the incovenience of car crashes to us, the survivors.
Car crashes are not an uncurable disease. We talk about uncurable diseases, we walk and raise money for uncurable diseases. But yet we do very little to help lower the amount of car crashes.
We don't even need to spend money to search for answers, we know why they are happening. Yet we are not making these changes.
We could lower speed limits, improve infrastructure.
